How to Make Faux Cupcakes

One Faux Cupcake

I was asked to make a single faux cupcake to be placed in a glass domed cupcake holder for a gift shop at a nonprofit organization.

I think it must be hard to sell those small domed cupcake holders without seeing a cupcake in one.

Directions for Making Faux Cupcakes

I first used some dried Crayola Model Magic Modeling Material as a base which I carved to fit into a pastel colored paper baking cup.

I used a paper baking cup to cover the bottom which I glued on.  Allow to thoroughly dry.

I then opened a second package of white Crayola Model Magic Modeling Material and rolled it into a long roll into a coil.

I proceeded to curl it on top of the cupcake and ended it with a point.

I had just enough left-over model material to make four squares for fudge or brownies.

Everything is drying now, so look for a new blog update in a few weeks.
