Disco Music

Last night with our friends, we attended an entertainment event of Disco Music. The Discoteks, performed on Sat., July 11th, at the Reston Concert on the Town, at Reston Town Center.

There are always strict rules about not photographing or videotaping any artistic performances, so no recordings were made. Alas, no photographs for my Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers. However, there was free parking and use of the garage at this event.

The photograph we used in today’s blog was taken elsewhere. And, yes, I remember dancing on this type of disco flooring. However, sorry, no disco ball photographs in my photograph bank.

More About the Disco Music Band

The Discoteks, from their Facebook pages, states they are from New Jersey. Looking at their schedule, they seem to be pretty busy.

A Disco Performance

So, I must say I really enjoyed listening to al the 1980’s and 1990’s dance and pop music. I hate to date myself, but I remembered every song.

At the front of the stage, concert goers were allowed to dance or get an upclose view of the band.

Let’s see some of the songs were “Turn the Beat Around”, “I Need some Hot Stuff,” “Shake Your Bootie,” “It’s Ladies’ Night,” etc. Note – I might not have the correct title of some of these songs, but you’ll know the songs.

When the Discoteks played the “YMCA” song several people got up the do the “dance number” to the song. Let’s see it was pointing, then two steps left and two step right, and then the spelling out of the letters Y, M, C, A. Oh boy, I only remember spelling out the letters during the song.

Obviously, I’m lacking in my disco education, right?

Ending Notes on Disco Music Blog

It was a nice evening out and I enjoyed listening to the music. I even got up to dance to a song or two.

Now, what I am thinking about is the spelling of the band’s name. With all the techies in town, maybe the band should change its name from Discoteks to Discotechies, right?

No, only kidding.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
