While out shopping one day, we decided to dine on Swedish Meatballs in the cafeteria section of a new store. Their menu really didn’t have too many choices; however, they served a Swedish Meatball dinner which looked good. To order, one used a kiosk board and credit card.
So, we purchased three meatball meals. Each meal came with meatballs in a savory sauce, yellow mashed potatoes, peas, and a dab of lingonberry jam. Also, a cute Swedish flag toothpick came with the dinner. For drinks, we had soda which was self-serve.
What is interesting about this cafeteria is that you can buy bags of frozen Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes to make in your own kitchen.
We found the meal reasonably priced and tasty.

What’s For Dinner? Swedish Meatballs
So, on the way to pick up our previously ordered table and chairs, we also stopped, again, into the food section of the store.
We purchased the things needed to make the meal at home. We picked up a large bag of frozen Swedish Meatballs, frozen mashed potatoes, a packet of Savory Sauce, a jar of lingonberry jam, and a bottle of Apple Lingonberry juice made from a concentrate.
However, I’m not sure if they sold frozen peas or not. But, not to worry, since I had a couple bags of frozen peas in my home freezer.
Making the Meal
When I got home, I put the juice to cool in the refrigerator. Then I got out pots to make the dinner in. OK, I’m didn’t exactly follow the directions for the Swedish Meatballs, but I guess the main thing is to make sure everything cooks properly.
Basically, I warmed up the mashed potatoes on my stove. I used half a bag of the meatballs.
I also purchased a package of the savory sauce and made it in a small saucepan. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any heavy whipping cream to finish the sauce but added the same amount of milk. All in all, I think the sauce turned out fine. However, it would have been thicker with heavy whipping cream.

OK, I believe, the bag said one serving of meatballs is about five. I used a portion of the bag and then placed the rest in the freezer. I didn’t count the meatballs per dish.
Actually, I like the meal better made at my home even though I didn’t have any cute Swedish flag toothpicks to add.
The Apple Lingonberry juice was bubbly but not overly sweet.
Now to think of a traditional Swedish dessert to go with the meal the next time I serve it.
PS – By the way, the employees at this store wear a shirt with “Hello” in Swedish printed on the back.
