Watermelon, Orange, & Lime Salad/Centerpiece

Edible Summer Centerpiece Edible Summer Centerpiece

What could be better than a fantastic summer centerpiece that you can eat?

I’m not one for wasting food.

If I have a centerpiece made of food, the food can not be altered in any way which makes the food inedible such as using glue, spray paint, etc.

For this centerpiece I am using a long 18-inch rectangular white serving platter which is held by a black wrought iron rack.

This piece is actually an oven to table serving ware piece, but it works out perfectly for my use today.

I used an in season seedless watermelon which was sliced in to small, easy to handle pieces.

Two oranges were peeled and cut up into thin slices.  The slices were arranged in the center of the serving platter.  The oranges were slightly past their prime.  I, therefore, made sure to peel the less than perfect skin off the oranges.

The other end of the platter was filled in with small watermelon slices.

I finished up the edible centerpiece by thinly cutting up one lime.

The lime slices were placed into the water glasses at the table.

A finishing touch of fresh thyme was tucked behind a few of the fruit slices.

I love the way the edible center piece came together and best of all, everyone could just serve themselves.

Easy to do and looks like summer!
