Ok, I’m calling today’s blog Decorating Diva, One, because we added a few decorating items to our empty condo.
In fact, the condo is no longer empty, and we are blogging about what has been done so far.
We purchased this area rug shown in the showroom. I like the fact it is large enough to cover a good portion of the floor area in the living room.
Loft Collection Area Rug
We picked up this affordable beige color 8 x 11-foot area rug. It is part of the Loft Collection, which is an affordable, casual line of machine-made area rugs sold through department stores.
The rug has a simple, modern pattern, is low profile and lightweight. After purchasing it, we carried it out to our vehicle without any difficulty. Actually, we folded over to make it fit into our car.
Price wise, it was marked down from approximately $500 to $200 and is a final sale. That means you cannot return it if it doesn’t work out for your space. OK, the price is right for my decorating budget, and the neutral colors should work out. Since it doesn’t have a pattern, it is going to be easier to match.
This is a close up of the area rug. It is not a thick rug.
However, I think a carpet pad under it will make it look perfect.
Round Coffee Table
I absolutely love our new round coffee table which sits on four interconnecting metal legs. The top is unusual because that is not real wood but looks similar to vinyl wood planking.
I’m thinking one never needs to worry about glasses leaving water stains on this table.
Best of all, it was only priced at $40 in a secondhand shop.
Large Basket Flatware Holder
Decorating Diva purchased the large metal utensil holder with holes in the side from a local European houseware store.
The basket holding the flatware came from Williams Sonoma. They were having a 40% off summer sale. I love how many pieces of flatware this basket holds. I, also, like the useful handle on top of the holder.
Please remember that our lovely flatware set was given free to us from a good neighbor.
What Needs to be Done Yet?
OK, the to-do list is growing day by day.
Also, we checked out the furnace filter, and it is very dusty and dirty. It needs to be switched out as soon as possible. However, the filter we have now in the unit is way too small. So, a trip to the hardware store is needed.
Today, the protective chair leg caps we purchased are way too big for our two “coffee” black stools. They need to be returned and see if they have one smaller size.
On the plus side, we picked up a picture hanging set which seems to have all the parts we need. Of course, hanging that modern art painting will be another blog.
Ending Notes on today’s Decorating Diva, One Blog
So, things are being done little by little. Our new living room couch is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday. That is really going to make a big difference in our condo’s furniture situation. Plus, the new couch is very comfortable.
The couch was purchased during a big furniture sale. As it turns out, it is actually on sale for half price.
So, in closing, we will keep everyone posted on our decorating on a dime series.
