Country Cooking

Nothing is better than enjoying country cooking at Cracker Barrel restaurant and store. This week, we stopped in for dinner and we both had Smoky Southern Grilled Chicken Dinners with two side orders.

About Cracker Barrel

I think everyone has dined at Cracker Barrel at one time or another while on an interstate highway or on a trip. I checked out their web site for more information. Cracker Barrel restaurants began back in 1969 in Tennessee by Dan Evins. He believed in serving a good meal at a good price.

Cracker Barrel also has a Cracker Barrel Foundation to help those in need. They have given away millions of dollars over the past 25 years.

They also offer an Employee Scholarship Program to employees and children of employees.

Country Cooking and the Smoky Southern Grilled Chicken Dinner

So, back to the Cracker Barrel in my location and our meal. We waited ten minutes for the table as it was very busy. But, that ten minutes went by quickly as we shopped around in their country themed store.

When we were seated, we both ordered the Smoky Southern Grilled Chicken dinners. I noted they had a carrot next to the offering. This means that the item is under 800 calories and contains 15 grams of fat or less.

As we waited, we enjoyed a glass of ice tea.

After awhile, we got our meals, more ice tea, and biscuits. I really enjoyed the taste and moistness of the chicken breasts. The meat was thinly pounded and nicely seasoned. Our meal was swerved with two side orders. I ordered mashed potatoes and green beans as my side dishes. Whoops, the mashed potatoes on my plate were only lukewarm.

We were told a bus stopped in and they had to prepare 27 extra dinners for the riders. I guess that is why things were delayed.

Ending of Country Cooking Blog

So, I guess that about ends our blog on country cooking.

Enjoy the day.
