Belated Mother's Day

Belated Mother’s Day

Happy belated Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. I was going to post a Mother’s Day blog but, of course, other things got in the way. As I always say, better late than never.

Well, I started my Mother’s Day celebration the day before. In church, at the end of mass, they tell all the moms to stand up; then everyone claps for them. Being a mother is one of the hardest things you can do in life but it so rewarding. Usually, claps and applause do not go with the title of MOM.

What I did on Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day, we went out for coffee and pastry. We always share a large pastry. We selected a bacon/onion savory roll. In my opinion, it was a little disappointing. The pastry roll was sprinkled in salt, and with the bacon tasted too salty.

We, then, decided to visit the pickle festival which was being held for two days in our town. However, we didn’t realize you needed to pay an entry fee on that one. We drove around until found a parking spot up front but, at the last minute, decided not to go in.

It was only later when talking to a neighbor about the event, they said it is wildly popular. People like to sample the various types of pickles and cheeses.

Purchasing Tomato Plants

Then off we went then to pick up some tomato plants for the garden. However, when we reached the garden center, there was, again, no empty parking spots. Tired of crowds at this point, we didn’t want to circle the parking lot looking for an opening. So, we left and headed to the big box store. They have lots of parking and also a garden center. We purchased four more tomato plants to plant in our summer garden.

Mother’s Day BBQ

Every year, without fail, we have a Mother’s Dady BBQ. I really enjoy it. There are no crowds to deal with, the food is good and hot, and we enjoy the family time. This year we grilled cheeseburgers and sausage. Always makes for an easy but tasty BBQ.

However, this is a big one, it started to pour rain before the meal was done. So the umbrella was pulled out. Oh well, we tossed the almost done meats in the microwave before eating it.

We still enjoyed the meal.

Ending Note on Belated Mother’s Day

OK, at first, it seems that nothing went right on that special day but that would not be totally accurate.

Being a mom means no two days are the same. There are always variables tossed in the mix.

What Could Go Wrong?

I remember one day on the way to grade school; my friend didn’t finish a project. I was thinking why doesn’t this car have a plug in option for a hot glue gun? Once when he wanted to give his best friend a piece of Valentine candy, the teacher told me how cruel it was of him. I never thought it was cruel, however, but she explained the whole class should be included. One time, they went to the local animal park, my friend wanted to feed the goats. The goats came closer and closer to get the feed. “That’s OK, they want to be friends,” my little one said. But soon after being swarmed by hungry goats it quickly became, “Get me out of here!”

Yesterday, my neighbor presented me with a single yellow rose for friendship and Mother’s Day. I placed it in a vase to enjoy over the next couple of days. Not to be forgotten, I received Mother’s Day cards which were opened and enjoyed. It is nice when others think enough of you to send a card to celebrate your special day.

I love the fact that my family took the effort to spend time with me, and that is all you need. However, even though my Mother’s Day wishes are belated to my Readers, they are still heart felt, warm and true.
