Today I had a virtual doctor’s office visit regarding a refill on a prescription.
It actually went smoothly. It was nice that I did not have to go into the office to be seen.
That’s of a particular concern in times of COVID-19.
The computer I used did not have a built in web cam, so we purchased one.
Generally speaking, you can get a good web cam for about $30 to $50 or more.
The web cam was placed on top of a speaker so that it would get a good view of the person sitting at the computer.
Web Cam Plug in Computer MicrophoneAlso, needed was a small plug in microphone.
To start the visit, the medical office assistant telephones and asks for your blood pressure reading, temperature, and weight which they place on the online records.
You then open your email and click on the email from the doctor’s office. After a brief wait, the doctor then picks up. He was, also, at home during this visit.
He reviews your case and then sends your prescription to the drug store.
The doctor also talked about some people being so scared of contracting COVID-19, they are unable to go the emergency room when they have a true emergency such as a heart attack.
You should not allow the COVID-19 to paralyze you into inaction. Try to weigh the pros and cons of each possible COVID-19 exposure.
Virtual Doctor’s Office Visit – Sign of the Times . . .
In summary, the virtual doctor’s visit was great. No need to dress up and go to the office. Also, not exposed to any diseases from other ill patients in the office waiting area.
You do need a thermometer, scale, and blood pressure cuff at your home to take your readings.
Would definitely schedule another virtual doctor’s visit.
