ReStore Shop, Huge 270-Bottle Wine Rack

I was off to my weekly shopping trip to the ReStore store in the Reston/Herndon area. I’m never disappointed with the variety of items which are for sale in their store.

Lenox Limited Bird Edition Plate – Wood Thrush Birds

The first item I wanted to blog about is this two-piece set of exquisite “Lenox Presents” a limited collection of Boehm Birds. These particular plates show the Wood Thrush Bird which is the official bird of Washington, DC.

Back in 1938, the Wood Thrush was adopted as the official bird of Washington, DC. This songbird can be found in the eastern United States but in gradually diminishing numbers.

The center of the plate has the drawing of two brown and white wood thrush birds in what looks to be a flowering cherry tree. The plate also has an elaborate 24K gold trim around the birds. The plates are dated 1970 and look to be in their original boxes.

What a great gift idea for someone living in the Washington, DC area.

Huge 270-Bottle Wine Rack

I noticed this large 270-bottle wine rack near the front of the store. This is not your usual wine rack for the kitchen. This well-made wooden wine rack has space for 270 bottles. It is 15-bottles wide and 18-bottles tall.

I can see this wine rack set up in a large basement or other area for those wine lovers. It is priced at only $100 and what a great storage option it would be to hold your wine collection.

Vintage Tripod Food Mill/Strainer Sieve

I liked the look of this vintage tripod food mill or strainer sieve shown in the photograph below. It comes with a wooden masher which fits nicely into the food mill/strainer sieve.

Homemakers from the 1950’s used this food mill for canning purposes or for making baby food. The food mill would remove all the seeds and peels from processed food items such as tomatoes, raspberries, apples, etc.

Freshly made apple sauce with a food mill is always a treat.

I had to pull out several items away to get a good photograph of this vintage metal food mill on the left.

It is located in the houseware department.

The photograph on the right shows a close up the the wooden masher that goes with it although I believe it is priced separately.

Vintage Wood School Desk with Attached Chair

School is out for summer, but who can resist this cute vintage wooden school desk with an attached chair, (see below center photograph).

It makes me think of the many school students who sat in this chair.

It would also be great for a small child who likes to draw or do work from a desk area. The desk also has a slot carved into the top to keep those pens and pencils from rolling off.

Modern Glass Hanging Light Fixtures

These two matching modern-looking glass light fixtures caught my attention.

They would look great hanging over a kitchen countertop. I believe they were priced at $15 each. They look to be well made with a heavy clear glass shade.

There is a wide variety of hanging fixtures in the light department in the Reston/Herndon ReStore shop.

Vintage-Looking Day Bed

I looked way in back of the store to find this vintage-looking day bed made out of metal.

All it needs is a new mattress. You could then cover it in accent pillows to make it look like a sitting couch.

It would look great in a guest bedroom, office or even a den. Everyone needs an extra bed for visitors or relatives at some point.

Farmhouse Magic Blogs loves those bargains and freebies. Today I received a free book with my purchase at the ReStore shop but I am not sure how long this promotion will last.

All of the above items in this blog were available for sale this week at the Reston/Herndon ReStore shop.

ReStore Freebie

I selected a bird guide book.

Thank you ReStore for the lovely free book!
