Pumpkin Decorating

Home and pumpkin decorating is on my “to do” fall list today. For this reason, I’m glad I finally got my storage boxes out of the basement.

My dining room table looks plain without a centerpiece and other areas of the house need a touch of fall.

How quickly time can get away from you and before you know it the season is done with.

Centerpiece Glass Pumpkins

This year I using my set of clear glass pumpkins for the table centerpiece.

To begin with, I set the table with my dark blue and white table runner from Pottery Barn. I also use a circular wood wedge server from Crate and Barrel to slightly elevate the larger glass pumpkin.

Then, the cotton boll garland is bent to encircle the two glass pumpkins. A smaller white pumpkin was set towards the front of the display.

To finish the look, I added four flameless 2-inch tall candles from Pottery Barn.

Lastly, I scatted silk fall leaves about the table along with colorful plastic acorns.

Glass Pumpkins and Flameless Candles

Flameless Candles and Pumpkin Decorating

The four Accents Flameless Wax Pillars are from the Pottery Barn. Each candle measures 2 x 2 inches and features 200 hours of candlelight time per battery with batteries included.

I actually love these flameless candles. They look so real and yet are completely safe.

I normally would be unable to use candles with flames this close to the cotton boll/grape vine garland due to fire safety reasons.

I remember once while attending a neighborhood holiday party, the centerpiece caught on fire from the candles. Fortunately, several guests were in the room when it happened, so the fire was quickly put out. However, I shiver thinking what would have happened if no one was in this room.

So often a holiday hostess is too busy with other things to think about candle fire hazards so these flameless candles are a perfect table choice.

Cotton Boll and Grape Vine Wreath

My cotton boll and grape vine wreath and table garland came from Ballard Designs in Tysons Corner.

The earthy look of this wreath feels both fresh and table flattering. It also is a little different from the tradition fall leaves one notices in wreaths but keeps with a Southern fall decorating theme.

Although the cotton bolls look real, they are made with both real cotton/faux elements.

Pumpkin Decorating in the Living Room

Initially, I had this large Pottery Barn white Cinderella Pumpkin on the dining room table, but three large pumpkins in that area are too many.

I think this Cinderella Pumpkin looks better on the living room table matched with a smaller faux orange pumpkin.

Year around I have the orange pillows on this couch, so the small orange pumpkin picks up that color.
