Shilla Bakery

New Shilla Bakery

While doing early Saturday errands, the new Shilla Bakery was opening in Chantilly.

We went in to see what the new store was all about. When entering the store, it is immaculately clean, bright, and in order. The bakery has a large table near the entrance displaying neatly wrapped cellophane breads, rolls and doughnuts.

Shilla Bakery and Cafes have stores in Annandale, McLean, Centerville, and now in Chantilly. Their business initially began as a Korean bakery but eventually expanded with European and Asian influences.

Ending Comments

We tasted tested a twist doughnut and, sure enough, my companion said it was delicious. The doughnut reminded him of his mother’s baking and was cake-like.

Be sure to check out the new Shilla Bakery for a bakery treat and a cup of java or bubble tea.

For Your Information: What is an Opera Cake?

We mentioned opera cake in this blog but I wasn’t sure what it was, so I researched it a bit. An Opera Cake is a French creation consisting of layers of almond sponge cake, coffee syrup, French buttercream, and chocolate ganache. It is an elaborate cake with many layers.

Sometimes the word “opera” written in ganache tops the cake to honor the opera in Paris.

A Special Thank You to Jung for allowing me to take photographs and blog about the new Shilla Bakery.
