Beaded Necklaces & Costume Jewelry History

I occasionally like to wear costume jewelry to dress up a casual outfit like jeans.  When the above blue beaded necklace arrived in the mail, it was perfect for many of my outfits.

I liked the length, fit, and easy-wearing look of this piece of costume jewelry.  In fact, I liked it so much, I ordered a second necklace in their cherry red color.

The blue necklace is a blue knotted cord strung with sliver colored beads.  The cherry red necklace is strung with brass colored beads.  They are both alike but also different.  Both necklaces are also adjustable plus they are light weight to wear.

The blue necklace works great with all the blue denim I wear.

I can either wear the blue beaded necklace by itself or I can team it up with the cherry red necklace.

The company’s website, also, advertises both necklaces to be nickel free.

It was fortunate for me that both cute beaded necklaces were on sale.

My love of costume jewelry got me thinking of some of the highlights in costume jewelry over the years.

Fun Facts About Costume Jewelry

Modern costume jewelry is made from many materials.  High-end costume jewelry consist of semi-precious stones, gold- or silver-plated brass or cubic zirconia.  Lower-end costume jewelry might use plastic, twine, wood, cloth, leather, clay, etc.

Items made outside of the United States might contain lead.  Also, one should avoid nickel due to allergies.

  1. Angelea,
Thank you for your comment and I hear your frustration with comments on your blog. At times, I feel the same way. You will get thousands of comments on your blog but quite a few will only want to press their own agendas for services and products. Be careful with spam comments and check out the URL before posting anything. When I first started blogging I received over 7,000 comments which actually stopped my blog. I had to buy a firewall protection service to get back online. Good luck with your blogging and keep in mind “comment control”.
