I think we mentioned in an earlier blog about having an Ember Fest which was the name artificial intelligence came up with for this particular event. Basically, the event was an informal musical presentation around an outdoor fire pit.
So a little more about the event.
Holiday Cookies Served at Ember Fest
One of the first things made were some flourless peanut butter cookies. I added some red and green sprinkles to the tops of the cookies. After the cookies cooled, they were frozen until yesterday. After plating the cookies on a disposal tray, I tossed in a few handfuls of holiday chocolate and peppermint candy.

We actually had a second tray of homemade sugar cookies. While listening to music who doesn’t love a few holiday sugar cookies to munch on. I also purchased some holiday tree shaped snack cakes for the tray. Just as festive and less baking for sure.

Appetizers Served at Ember Fest
Since we were not sure how many people would show up, only a few appetizers were made.
Making a bunch of deviled eggs is easy and inexpensive to do. When trayed they are sprinkled with dried parsley, dill, and paprika.

I then made two different appetizers on a stick. The first one was a cheese block, a black olive, pepperoni slice and a fresh cherry tomato.
The second stick appetizer was a cheddar cheese block, a fresh red grape, a slice of cucumber and finished with another grape. I wanted to bend the cucumber as I had seen online, but I think my slices were too thick.
The stick appetizers were good and came together in a snap. We used small 3.75 inches wooden skewer sticks.

Always use the freshest fruits and vegetables you can find to make these bite sized appetizers on stick.
Ending Notes on Ember Fest
There were about five people who showed up for Ember Fest. Well, at least there was enough food for everyone.
Entertaining Rule number one, it is always better to have too much food for the guests than not enough. One can always eat leftover food the next day.
With it being the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, people are on the go but next time we might get more people to attend. It, also, it is usually helpful to have a RSVP on the invite, so you know how many people are going to show up.
And, Entertainment Rule number Two, use disposable dishes, plates, and trays. That way after the event, things are tossed out with little cleanup.
Disposable trays, chips, and, of course, a package of secondhand snowflake napkins. I only paid $2 for these. I saw holiday napkins as high as $10 for a package.

Enjoy the Start of the Holiday Season and have your own Ember Fest Get Together!
