Visiting Manassas

We went for a ride today visiting Manassas which is a historic town with a lot of character. Manassas was previously known as Manassas Junction and is the site of the Manassas National Battlefield Park.

The ARTfactory is our first stop to check out their art gallery. Then, strolling around charming town we found several places of interest.

Freedom Museum

Unfortunately, the Freedom Museum is not open today.

Looking in the museum’s front windows, I notice on one side they have figures dressed in military uniforms. The other side has a display of wedding dresses. However, on looking closer, there are also old newspaper clippings about the marriages of some military men and the women who wore the dresses.

Opera House

The Opera House, circa 1907, was the main community center for Manassas until the 1930’s.

At some point, it was used by the Manassas Journal newspaper.

There is a historic gold plaque on the front of the old Opera House.

Flower Garden at the BRUU Food Pantry

I’m giving a shout out to the lovey flower garden in front of the BRUU Food Pantry.

There is also a bird bath and a hidden garden bench to sit on and enjoy the day.

The sunflowers in the garden are probably for the birds to feast on.

There are both small and large sunflower plants in this flower garden plus a variety of other flowering plants.

The Manassas Train Station sits beside a huge blue water tank. The track goes across a busy road in town.
