Secondhand Shopping

Yesterday was a lovely fall day, so I made a quick secondhand shopping trip to some of my favorite stores. Originally, I was out shopping for some wooden candleholders for my fall fireplace mantle decor but when secondhand shopping you never know what you will bring home. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any candleholders I liked.

Yes, I’m still trying to get that fireplace mantle in a place that I like but I will keep my Readers posted.

Holiday Cocktail Napkins

I found these great green and red holiday cocktail napkins. They are brand new made of material and tied up with a green ribbon in packs of five napkins. The pattern on the napkins is band members in green jackets with large black hats on a red background. The napkins are edged in holiday green thread and measure approximately 8 x 8-inches. Each set is priced at only $1 each so I purchased both sets.

Eucalyptus, Mistletoe and White Berry Wreath

I really like this below green eucalyptus, mistletoe and white berry wreath. I think the green leaves look almost real. I’m thinking I might hang this wreath in one of the bathrooms, since I don’t have any greenery in there. I, also, like the completely reasonable $4 price tag.

Wooden Close Pins

For some reason, I’m always in need of wooden close pins. I use them to close up snack bags, cookie bags, and to pin open the kitchen curtains. I also use them to clip together important papers that I don’t want to lose, kind of like a giant paperclip.

When I use my clothing drying rack, I always need extra close pins.

Hopefully, this is enough close pins to last me awhile, but I can never tell. The bag is priced at $4.

This baggie holds an assortment of close pins plus a few mini craft ones.

I, also, purchased a new craft kit to make a snowman out of a canning jar. The kit comes with a maroon hat, scarf, and buttons to glue on the jar. Apparently, you also glue the snowman’s face on, too. I’m giving this away to my neighbor because she likes to make crafts with her grandkiddos and I think it would be in keeping with the holiday mood.

Ending Notes on Secondhand Shopping Blog

OK, so yesterday I stopped at three secondhand stores for my shopping. I found some candleholders but, unfortunately, they wouldn’t work for what I wanted them for.

However, I was able to find some nice cocktail napkins for the holiday, a great green wreath for the wall, and a few odds and ends. I think my whole shopping bill was about $12. That’s a lot of “bang for the bucks” as they say and another reason why I love shopping in secondhand stores. Saving money around the holidays is always a good goal.

But now I’m thinking, I really need to hold a cocktail party so I can use a few things for the holidays including those brand-new cocktail napkins. I already tossed them in the laundry, so they will be ready for party-time.
