ReStore Shopping – Toy Box

Once again, I’m off looking for furniture bargains for my home and ReStore Shopping – Toy Box comes to mind. I want to replace a dated television armoire with a long and thin storage cabinet or credenza. Hopefully, I will be able to find a vintage-looking or one of a kind piece of furniture.

The piece I buy, also, needs to work as a storage cabinet since I have too many things and too few storage options.

When I want a good price on a used piece of furniture, I always head to one of the local ReStore shops. Yesterday, I browsed at the ReStore at the Chantilly location so now I’m blogging about ReStore Shopping – Toy Box.

ReStore Shopping Toy Box and More

They always have a nice selection of furniture. The first thing I noticed was this cute toy box and bench combination in a folk art design.

Toy Box and Bench with Stenciled Heart

It is nicely made with the top lid still working. It is also decorated with heart cut outs and a heart stencil.

I like the fact there is a slot cut out under to seat to allow for easy opening and also offers an air source if a small child closes itself into the box.

The bench seat does look like it could use some paint or staining. Perhaps painting the seat a red color to match the heart stencil?

I thought my Readers might enjoy seeing a toy box I hand painted years ago with trucks.

This toy box was huge!

Wooden Bed Frame with Storage

The photograph of the below bed has a large nice wooden head board but it also offers storage drawers under the bed.

The bed headboard has a three panels design and comes with the frame holding the under bed storage drawers.

Imagine how useful this bed would be to store blankets, sheets, and other items which are not frequently used.

Wire Closet Shelves

With so many people wanting to remodel their closets, the below photographed wire closet shelves might be helpful.

Closets should have places for all items.

The first step is to clean out your closets and see what you really need. At one time there were 27 jackets and coats jam packed into my tiny downstairs closet. Most of them were never worn.

These wire shelves are easy to put up with a drill, level and screwdriver. Before drilling, look for the studs with a stud finder.

This box of white wire shelves seems reasonably priced at only $1 per foot.

Vintage Clear Glass Decanters and Bottle Collection

The next item I want to blog about is this set of vintage looking decanters and bottles. I didn’t see any prices on these but you can always ask for prices if something is not marked.

These vintage looking clear-glass decanters are a little dusty but would probably clean up nicely. It looks like they are pressed glass.

There is also a collection of vintage bottles behind the decanters.

Grolsch Beer Bottle

The Grolsch beer bottle, pictured in the back row below, has a bale wire cap attached to the top. Grolsch beer is brewed in Holland. The brown glass bottle has a porcelain flip top which gives the bottle a distinct appearance. Online, this brown beer bottle sells from about $5 to $15 each.

The William Neerfeldt family begun the Grolsch brewery in 1615 in Grolle.

Around 1650, the formula was improved by adding a variety of hops to give the beer some depth of flavor. No artificial ingredients are added to the beer.

Vintage Glass Decanters and Bottles

The crown top bottles were introduced and remain in use today.

On May 13, 2000, part of the beer brewery was damaged by a fire started at a nearby fireworks factory but the Groslsch company continues in business.

Long Dresser with Glass Top

I didn’t find any furniture that would work for my home.

However, I did find this one piece, I believe it was priced at $150, but it was about ten inches too long, (see below photograph).

When shopping at a ReStore shop, a helpful hint is to carry a tape measure with you at all times.

So, this dresser/credenza has a nice glass top covering the wood but it looks more for use in a bedroom than living room. It is also too long to fit against my wall.

Ending Notes on ReStore Shopping – Toy Box Blog

For now, I’m still looking for the right piece but, of course, I enjoyed looking at all the Restore items in the store.

Long Cupboard with Glass Top

All of the above items were for sale this week at the ReStore shop in Chantilly, VA, (with the except of my toy box with the trucks painted on it).

A special thank you to James for allowing me to take photographs and blog about the ReStore at the Chantilly location.
