Wow, it was a wet day, so what a perfect time to visit some my favorite secondhand stores and to Race to ReStore.
This time I am visiting my Reston/Herndon ReStore shop.
Toy Cars
OK, sort of fun pun here because today’s ReStore has a bunch of either Hot Wheels or Matchbox toy cars for sale. Each car is individually priced. I imagine some collector will come in and buy a whole bunch of them. Or at least, the cars they need for their collection. According to the price tags, the cars were placed on displayed yesterday. I think the highest price tag, I saw, for a car is $15. But, of course, I didn’t check out all the prices on the many cars. I, believe, there are two shelves of the toy cars.
For holiday baskets, put in a few of these Race to ReStore cars. In addition, I also noted a selection of baskets in the store.
So, what’s the difference between Matchbox and Hot Wheels toy cars? Presently, both types are made by Mattel. However, from watching an online video, the wheels on older Hot Wheel cars might be better suited to win races. However, I am not an expert on either of these toy cars.
Large Spode Platter
Looking at the photograph below, this large Spode platter has a Woodland pattern. It is for sale at the front of the store and is made in England. Happily, it is both dishwasher and microwave safe. The edge is trimmed in brown toned flowers.
The large dish has a pheasant design in the center of the octagon shaped plate. This particular pattern, produced in the 1990’s, notes the design is rooted in the hunt for game. The dish is, also, available in different game patterns. It is framed by a British flower pattern dating back to 1831.
So, this beautiful platter is priced at $100 and is large enough for a good sized ham for your spring meal.
Additional Information on Spode Porcelain – Spode was founded in 1770 by Josiah Spode and was known for fine porcelain for about 250 years. The original Spode factory was closed in 2008.
Large Storage and Entertainment System
The next item is a great buy, however, this piece of furniture is tall and large. I believe it is approximately ten feet tall. It comes with glass shelves, (not shown), and has a system which opens up to bring up the television monitor set. It is made of wood and looks to be in good shape.
One employee at the ReStore shop, thought it would look great in a lawyer’s office, etc. It recently dropped in price, so it is a good deal if you need the storage and have the room for the unit.
Majestic looking entertainment and storage system.
Small Wooden Table in Race to ReStore
I, also, love to see smaller sized furniture that will fit in a lot of difference places and homes or apartments. This table is definitely great for apartment living and I think it is quite useful. It would work out perfectly as an entry way table or even a make-do desk. This is one of my favorite pieces in the shop today. Amazingly, it is priced to sell at only $25.
To me, the thin legs look rather modern. This piece is made of wood.
Race to ReStore and the Modern Punch Bowl Set
I, truly, love this large modern punch bowl set made of clear glass with a hand blown punch ladle. If you are entertaining for the spring holiday, this is the way to go. The punch bowl is classic, simple and elegant. It is reasonably priced at $45.
Classic Punch Bowl set perfect for your spring time entertaining needs. This bowl can also be filled with snacks or chips.
Child’s Chair
To begin with, this colorful children’s chair has a set of wooden bead set in the back almost like an abacus. The beads are great for learning to count games.
Also, the child can push the beads back and forth or line them up according to colors. This is definitely a fun and educational piece for a child’s room.
This child’s chair would work well in a playroom or at a small desk.
Ending Notes on Race to ReStore Blog
In ending today’s blog, I actually met Chaz, the marketing person, in my ReStore shopping trip. It is always nice to place a name with a face.
Above all, the individuals who work in ReStore shops have a true understand the meaning of recycling and reusing. All in all, ReStore of Northern Virginia shops are also run by the Habitat for Humanity organization, so anything donated or sold in the stores helps the cause.
The merchandise moves quickly in and out of ReStore shops, so if you see something you want, buy it now, it might be gone by your next visit.
A Big Thank you to Paul, Liz and Chaz for allowing me to blog and take photographs in their store.
All items photographed in today’s blog are available for sale in the ReStore Herndon/Reston shop.
For My Reader’s Information – What did I buy in the ReStore today? I’m working on my springtime table centerpiece, so I purchased this unusual, sturdy grapevine basket for $5, (the one with the white bunny in it). I’ll let my Readers know how things turn out. Thank You ReStore!
Happy Spring Holidays Everyone!
