Very cold weather is predicted in our area for the next couple of days. The weatherman reports it will get down to 38 degrees.
We decided to open the seed germination and garden protection blanket and place it over the strawberry crop.
Since the strawberries are covered with flowers, I wanted to be sure nothing freezes. I don’t want to lose all those strawberry blooms.
I know what my Readers are thinking and, yes, I also purchased it second hand in a thrift store for only one dollar. It is usually priced at about $20 and is reusable from season to season.
Another tool we are finding valuable in the garden is the heavy duty stable gun.
We use this to button up the wire coverings when ever there is a small opening.

French Hens Mini Quiche Dishes
French Hen Mini Quiche Dish SetI’ve been decluttering the laundry room and came across these French Hen mini quiche dishes on a top shelf.
They are made by Department 56 and the dish is marked on the bottom with French Hens Oven to Table Cookware.
The ceramic dish is imprinted with a black and white checked circle around a black and white hen. The hen might be a Dominique hen with black and white feathers and a rose hued comb. The dishes came in a set of four and was made in Japan.
Department 56 was founded in 1976 and it produces snow villages, Christmas gifts, Snowbabies and collectibles. In 1992 the company was bought by a New York Investment of Forstmann Little.
I’ve used these dishes to make mini quiches and I love the hen on the bottom of the dish.
