With all this talk about Springtime activities, it got me thinking about taking a nature hike. So, I’m going to head to my local park and hike on one of the nature trails.
I’ve, also, noted a few, springtime robins in my yard along with a female cardinal. It looks like she wants to build a nest in my burning bush tree. On my hike, hopefully, I will find a few birds out in the woods or other woodland animals to photograph.
Getting Ready for the Nature Hike
Before going out, the first thing I do, is pull on a pair of comfortable walking shoes. I find I need my warm jacket on this crisp morning. I, also, wear a woolen scarf around my neck and gloves. My hike is on well-marked nature trail at a nearby park.
A Walk in the Woods
Even though it is cold, I see about three other people on the trails walking their dogs. This park is always a great place to get some exercise with your dog.
In one area, I notice three or four birds flitting about. Unfortunately, those birds never pose long enough for photographs and take off anytime I get within range.
I noticed a quick movement in the bushes which I think it might have be a squirrel. I also note a squirrel’s nest or drey in another part of the woods. However, I am, also, not able to capture the squirrel in a photograph.
So, what I do find is a blooming pink cherry tree. I get up close to get some good photos. But then I notice my pants are covered in burrs from the weeds. I take a few minutes to pull off these jaggy burrs. Oh boy, today’s photographs are not easy and forget about seeing any woodland animals.
Ending Notes of Nature Hike
Unfortunately, it looks like on my nature hike, the animals are all basically hiding out until warmer days. Perhaps I should do the same?
Happy Hiking!
Note: The photograph in today’s blog is not actually from the nearby park or woods.
