Hands Free Apps

I was at a self serve café the other day when I saw their hands free apps soda dispenser with their contact-free pouring posting.

Actually, this contact-free pouring system uses smart phone technology.

All you do is scan the QR code, select your drink on your phone, and then pour using your phone.

During times of COVID and with other contagious germs, a soda dispenser you never have to touch is a great idea.

The term hands free apps are software or equipment that needs little or no use of your hands. A popular way to activate this is by the sound of your voice.

Movie Ballot Voting Using a Hands Free System

An example of a recent use of a hands free app was at the Washington, DC 48-Hour Movie Project. At the end of the screening, everyone got to vote for their favorite films as part of the fan favorite film.

To vote for your favorite movies, a large bar code was shown on the movie screen.

Everyone held their smart phone up to the screen and then were directed to the web site for voting.

No pencil or paper was needed and the ballots were counted automatically.

Amazon Alexa

Amazon Alexa is another device which turns on by voice commands.

We have an Alexa in this house that will turn lights or a fan on, play your favorite songs, or help you check spellings when doing crossword puzzles.
