Rusty but Good

Sorry to say, but I’m always attracted to the Rusty but good pieces in the secondhand stores.

These are usually pieces that people toss out in the trash. But stop, please donate that piece instead to your favorite charity shop, because there are people who want to buy it.

Today I am going to blog about the pieces I picked up on my recent shopping trip including two good but rusty pieces.

In fact, you will see my springtime table centerpiece uses those two rusty tart pans. A small glass bunny and holiday eggs fit nicely in those tart pans. A coating of rusty immediately gives a piece a little character, a sense of age, and a past history. I paid two dollar for each rusty tart tin.

I , also, have a mini rusty pie tin hanging on my kitchen wall.

Grape Vine Basket in Rusty but Good Blog

I really love this next piece which is a grape vine basket which I paid $5 for. I think this is a great deal on this very usual and sturdy basket.

I brought it home, washed off off the dust and then it was as good as new. The washing also tightened up things so now the handle is no longer loose. (Also, notice on my kitchen sink my large leaf Italian parsley plant).

Spring Time Meal

A good washing was all this basket needed to become part of my spring time table display.

You Can Never Have Too Many Hangers

So, what else was on my shopping list? Plastic hangers because I never seem to have enough hangers when I do my wash. Every time, without fail, I’m looking through all the closets for those empty hangers. Hanging up those items from the dryer means less ironing. That’s always a good thing.

How long will these last? Probably until the next time I do the laundry.

It’s a great deal on used hangers for only $1 for ten hangers.

Nice assortment of plastic hangers.

Ending Notes on Rusty but Good Blog

I found all the pieces of purchased at a secondhand charity shop to be useful.

I, also, want to point out don’t be too quick to toss out anything that is good but rusty. That piece could still have a lot of life left in it.

A little rust only means the piece was used a lot and was well loved.
