Getting my First Covid-19 Vaccination

Sorry Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers it has been a few days since I’ve signed on.

Since then, I’ve received my first Covid-19 vaccination.

The whole vaccination process was nicely done.  When eligible, I originally signed up online for an appointment back in January.

On the day of your vaccination, you are told to wait in your vehicle until you receive a text to come into the building.  Unfortunately, they had mistakenly used my landline number instead of my cell phone, so I ended waiting in my car to the very end of my appointment time.  I then went in without receiving a text message from them.

I was actually stopped by two workers wanting to know if I had an appointment.  Yes, I did, so I was allowed to enter the building.

The inside lobby was set up with several desks which were protected by large sheets of plexiglass.

I told them I had an appointment but never received a text to come in.  She typed in my cell phone number in the correct slot on her computer.

I was only asked my name and birthday for the check in.  I was told to proceed to the next area and follow the yellow tape markings on the floor.

The areas to stand were clearly measured off and marked off.  However, since I must have been one the last persons to get a vaccine, there was no line and only a few people in the vaccination area.

Everyone was completely covered in protective gear at the vaccination tables.

The lady giving the vaccinations held up a small green flag that her area was free, so I proceeded to her table.

I was given a sheet of information to read off to see if I had any allergies, etc.  I answered no to every question on her list.

I noticed the vaccination needles now have the needle cap attached to the needle.  All she did to cover the used needle was to push it against an object which quickly covered the needle tip.

I remember working in the hospital years ago that you had to manually place a pink needle tip cover on the end of the needle before disposing of it.  This sometimes led to accidental needle sticks.  This is another small but great improvement in medicine.

After my vaccination, I was directed to a room and told to wait 15 minutes before leaving.  This is due to anyone having a reaction to the vaccine.

The chairs in the room are all spaced out.  When my time was up, I received a text on my phone that it was alright to leave.  I thought that was a nice bit of technology to use.

My appointment went nicely and everything was well organized.  It is such a relief to get my first covid vaccine.  It’s like a huge weight is lifted off and you can breathe again.

For Your Information – I also signed up for a real time adverse symptom checker. They send you a daily text to see how you are feeling and if you have any adverse reactions.

Interesting research which I will gladly participate in.
