Is it Real?

Is it Real?

Today’s blog is entitled, “Is it Real?” I was out shopping at one of my favorite garden centers. While there, I noticed quite a few things I had to look twice to see the items were real or fake. This faux grouping includes flowers, plants and food items.

Because the store was recently remodeled, all the walls were removed. This left a large open shopping area which is so nice to shop in.

Faux Food Items

On today’s visit, I noticed several faux food items. Interestingly, I love when faux food is so detailed that it looks like the real item. I’m also looking for ideas on how to make realistic looking faux food as that is my hobby.

So, this bagged sliced faux bread is made out of soft foam. Notice, the seeds on the edges of the slice. I’m not sure if the seeds are real or not. The item was bagged and it was difficult to get a close look.

The faux cheese is neatly cut into wedges with a red rind. In addition, the wedges are displayed under a large cheese keeper or cake keeper.

Decorative faux rolls are sold in packages of three. Again, I’m not sure if the seeds on the three rolls are real or fake since the item is bagged.

I thought I would include a previous photograph of the faux bread and other items I made and donated to a historic prison display. The bread was also made of soft foam rubber. Yes, I even pulled out a worn out and stained table linen from my rag bag to use for the table in the prison display.

Faux Greenery and Floral – Is it Real?

So at the entrance of the store, there is an assortment of planters filled with artificial boxwood plantings.

Artificial plantings are great to use if you don’t want to risk getting water damage on a table, mantle or other area. Also, If your area is also low on light, then these artificial plants are great to use in your home or office.

An attractive grouping of faux boxwood balls in various planters. These faux plant “grow” anywhere. In other words, they are ideal for someone who wants some greenery but doesn’t want to take care of plants.
