How to Make Faux Royal Icing Decorations

Faux Cookie Icing

For the farmhouse display, I wanted to try a different look for the faux chocolate heart shaped cookies.

I didn’t want them to look too much like Valentine cookies.  I decided to try a different faux icing approach.

Directions for Making Faux Royal Icing Decorations

I used a small amount of white Crayola Clay Magic from another project.

I divided the leftover clay into eight portions since I have eight heart shaped cookies to decorate.

Make three small dots of clay per cookie.  Then roll the rest into a long roll with your two palms.  Carefully shape the roll to look like piped royal icing and curve it artistically.  Pinch off each section.

Make sure the royal icing squiggle will fit on each cookie and not be too long.  Allow the clay pieces to dry on a piece of wax paper.

When dry, carefully remove the squiggle and three dots.  Use white household glue to attach.

The project is drying right now and I hope to use the decorated heart cookies for the Christmas farmhouse exhibit.
