Ear Bud Water Rescue

Today as I was taking clothing out of the dryer, one ear bud fell on the dryer’s door so it was time for an ear bud water rescue. These ear buds definitely went through the washer and the dryer.

I’m calling these ear buds but in reality they could be ear pods or something else as I am not totally sure about this one.

So, not good as far as ear buds go but the second ear bud was missing. I looked on the floor near the dryer and then went through all the pockets in the clothing I removed from the dryer.

Finally, I found the second ear bud in an indentation near the dryer’s door.

Replacement ear buds are expensive to buy. My guess would be these are more expensive than others. Some are water resistant but not waterproof.

That is a big difference because water resistant ear pods will eventually be ruined if constantly exposed to water.

Apparently this set has been missing for two weeks’ time.

Drying Out the Ear Buds

Since these ear buds do not belong to me, nor was I sure of the manufacturer, I went online to see if there was any way to dry them out.

The online advice I read said no hair dryer. That will not work and would probably damage them.

I wiped them off a bit. This is a the part which is a little hard to follow. Some online information said to put them in a dish of rice to draw out the water moisture and others said it is a waste of time.

I decided to put them in rice. If nothing else, the rice will hold the ear buds in the down position to allow for any water drainage. I also found a sunny spot on the table to place them in.

Ear Bud Water Rescue Ending Notes

Now to check them in 12 to 24 hours or more to see if they are still operational.

Every site had different recommendations of the time to let them dry out, so I’m giving it my best try.

I am hoping for good results of my ear bud water rescue.

Please check back for an update on the ear buds.
