COVID-19 Contact Tracing Certificate from Johns Hopkins University

Sorry Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers, I’m a little late posting today’s blog.

I was busy taking an online course from Johns Hopkins University on COVID-19 Contact Tracing.

It took me most of the afternoon to finish the course and to take the final exam.  Most people, however, take more time than one day to finish the course.

So I passed and now have a certificate in COVID-19 Contact Tracing.

Crossing a Bridge

It’s a very interesting program and I learned a lot about COVID-19 and contact tracing.

Best of all, it was a free program.

Not sure what I’ll do with this certificate, but I’ll keep you posted.

In my area, contact tracers are paid $28 an hour.

What do Contact Tracers do?

Contact tracers help contain contagious diseases such as COVID-19.

One of the things they do, is contact people who test positive for COVID-19 and find out who they were in contact with.

Those individuals are located and told to self-quarantine, provided with resources they might need, told what to do if they get sick, and follow protocol.

Contact tracers are usually employed by the health department and work for the public good.  Their work disrupts the transmission of COVID-19 by getting potentially positive individuals out of the population.

Extra Notes on Contact Tracing Employment:

July 13, 2020 – Farmhouse Magic Blog applied for a position as a COVID-19 contract tracer.  I had a video interview and filled out some paperwork, but have not heard anything more about the position.  I’ll keep you posted.

September 23, 2020 – After video interview, never heard back about a position.  I suspect they wanted a person who could speak a second language.

November 8, 2020 – As of today’s date, they ever contacted me again.
