Boxing Exercise

Boxing and the Home Gym

To start the new year off right, FMB was thinking about the various types of physical exercises available to the person with a home gym, so boxing and the home gym comes to mind.

Adding some boxing equipment or incorporating a few boxing workouts to your regimen is worth looking into.

Boxing helps build strong muscles in your arms, hands, shoulders and chest. It helps your body with endurance and is a great cardiovascular exercise. Having some boxing skills will give you confidence. It also might help to protect you in an extreme situation.

Boxing Slip Bag

The first item I would like to blog about is using a boxing slip bag. Putting the bag in motion allows one to work on quick reactions and head movements. The object of the exercise is to move your head from left to right so the bag doesn’t hit your face or head.

It trains you to avoid a punch to the head or face areas.

It is installed on a chain hanging from the basement ceiling.

Double-End Striking Bag

The next item is a double-end striking bag. One end is attached to the basement ceiling and the end side is held to the floor with a gym weight.

Home Gym

Using a double-end striking or punching bag will help sharpen reflexes.

The boxer FMB interviewed for today’s blog, uses an intense two-minute punching interval workout and then a one minute rest.

Making a Fist

One of the first things to know in boxing and the home gym, is how to make a proper fist. That is, don’t tuck your thumb in the palm of your hand. Otherwise, you will break your thumb when you hit something hard. Instead curl it around your knuckles.

Ending Notes on Boxing and the Home Gym Blog

As always, please remember children need full supervision when around gym equipment. Boxing and the home gym will help you begin a boxing fitness routine in your home.

Happy New Year’s & Happy Boxing!
