Right now, we are back to our Decorating Diva Two series. Let’s see what our decorating team is currently working on.
Mahogany Joynt Stool
First of all, a Mahogany Joynt Stool was repurposed. Wow, it makes a perfect entry way table for our condo. It is not so big that is sticks out getting in the way, nor is it too small. Currently, it holds a small basket which contains key rings, mail, change and other small items.
The nicely made weathered mahogany stool has bobbin turned legs joined by stretchers.
Purchased a few years ago in a secondhand shop it makes quite a statement piece when entering the condo. It is paired with a modern art painting.
If I’m not mistaken, the table was priced at only $25.
The modern art painting was priced at $10.
A modern art painting in a very nice custom frame hangs over the table. A small rectangular basket found in a resell shop is placed on the tabletop.
Decorating Diva, didn’t want to spend $17 for one new basket. So, three secondhand baskets were purchased for approximately $6 total. The basket on this table was the most expensive of the trio priced at $3. The other two baskets found other uses.
We, also, checked out the bottom of the legs on this mini table. It needs four furniture protectors added to the bottoms to keep it from scratching the flooring. We will soon go shopping and pick these up.

Make It Yourself Bedroom Dresser
What turned out to be the biggest challenge is our Make it Yourself Black Dresser which was ordered through the mail and arrived in pieces.
Yes, it took a while, but we finally got it together plus we saved quite a bit of money by making it ourselves.
Our furniture maker found that initially opening all the pieces out worked the best. That way, he could see what piece came next in the directions.
This kit came with all the needed screws and hardware.
However, when put together we noted a few extra leftover screws. Now, that’s something to think about.
Surprisingly, wood glue wasn’t used on the project. However, the dresser is not real wood but some type of composite material. So, I’m not sure how long something like this will last. All in all, if it works out for a couple of years, that’s good too.
So, we’ll keep looking for a good price on a modern looking dresser made of real wood on my secondhand shopping sprees. We are also on the mission to find more artwork for the walls.
