The big snowstorm is arriving soon, a main traffic light is out, and it seems like this is a strange snow omen. Fortunately, everyone has been getting ready for the cold and snow all week long. So, it is a bit eerie to see the traffic lights out on a main street. Right now, the issue causing the outage is unknown.
The cross-section area of the road is already backing up with cars having nowhere to go. Our area of town has lots and lots of traffic. Unfortunately, there was no one yet on the scene working on the lights or directing traffic.
So, we grabbed our coffees to go and quickly headed home.
Tips for Getting Ready for the Big Snowstorm
As the snowstorm approaches, I have a few tips for my Readers.
First, the number one tip for getting through a major snowstorm is to make sure you have enough food for several days. Yes, I shopped about three times this week, spent lots of money, so I’m pretty sure we have enough food.
Number Two, make sure your phones are fully charged. I use my phone quite a bit, so I might charge it one more time today. We, also, charged up a small power generator which will charge up a phone or a laptop as needed. Since I love to read books on my electric reader, I added a few new books and charged that up, too.
Number Three, we purchased a large amount of wood for the fireplace and will probably burn that tonight. The temperatures are to go way down. We actually made two trips to get some extra firewood.
Number Four, get your snow shovels out the sheds. Once all the snow falls, opening the shed doors are difficult. You’ll want your snow shovels at that point.
Number Five, rev up the car’s batteries. For some reason, I recently had the road service to my house to start my car. Since then, I ran the car for a bit to keep the battery charged. No, I never had this issue with any my old cars, but from what I understand the newest cars have a lot of electronic features which draw on the car’s battery. Note – I miss my old cars. Over four decades, they never once left me with a dead battery. My new car I’ve called road service three time to start it up. Is a new car better? I think that is the question of the day.
Number Six, run the dishwasher and wash any dirty clothes you have. If your power goes out for a while, then you will have clean dishes and clothing.

Ending Notes on the Snow Omen Blog
Yes, I will keep everyone informed of the approaching snowstorm; from what I understand it is going to dump a lot of snow around here.
As for the nonworking traffic lights being a possible snow omen, I’m sure the lights are working now.
Take Care, Stay Warm, and Enjoy the Snowy Landscape.
