New Year’s Party Tips

OK, looks like the count down for 2025 is finally here and that means I am going to share some of my New Year’s Party tips.

Keep reading for a better way to throw a New Year’s Eve Party.

New Year’s Table Setting – Reusing Ornaments off Holiday Tree -Tip Number One

The first thing I got together was my New Year’s table centerpiece. When I took down my holiday tree this week, I saved certain bulbs to make my New Year’s centerpiece. So, basically, I’m using the same bulbs twice this holiday season and saving time.

To make the centerpiece, I used a large clear vase which I added silver, bronze, copper, blue and white glass bulbs. I also saved some of the plastic snowflakes to use in the arrangement. To make it more New Year’s like, I took two of my vintage bar glasses and filled them with smaller bulbs. The glasses are positioned off to the side of the main decoration.

To give the whole arrangement a big of height, I used a circular wooden tray under the main piece. The bronze and copper tone bulbs pick up the wood tone.

Adding Height to the Table Setting, Tip Number Two

What is particularly important is your entire tabletop should not to be at one height. It will look too flat. By adding height, you also add interest to your dishes and display.

I found another way to add height to a table is to stack either two or three footed serving dishes on top of each other.

These two clear footed serving dishes will look great. I’m serving slices of orange cranberry bread on the larger dish, and cookies on the top dish.

Planning Dish Placement – Pre Planning, Tip Number Three

Another fact of holiday parties is you need to plan ahead. At this point, I know what I am going to serve at my New Year’s party. So, I plan out what dishes and serving utensils I need.

As you can see, I already have my white tablecloth on the table and stripped table runner. I’m using the Christmas candle holders, but I am changing out the white candles to probably silver ones.

To keep the winter theme going, I also tossed on some plastic snowflakes.

Pre-planning means I put the chip bag in its serving dish. The quiche like dishes are used for fresh vegetables and dip, cheese with fruit and crackers and the last one for deviled eggs. The eggs were hard boiled yesterday saving me time today.

I have one vintage green tri dish with a gold handle. I bought some candy and nuts to fill the sections. This item was pretty dusty so make sure all dusty items are washed.

Set Up Bar in a Different Area, Tip Number Four

Tip number 4 is to set up your bar in different area from your food serving station. This way people get a choice of which table they want to go to. This allows for smoother serving and avoids everyone crowding at one table. You don’t need to have a real bar for this one. Make it simple and easy to take down at the end of the party.

This bar area is made from a folding table with a white tablecloth on top. Noticed the red holiday table runner I used previously. I washed it out and used it again.

This simple bar had some cloth napkins on it. Hopefully, party attendees will use them as coasters on my good tables.

Have Fun – Have Party Favors, Tip Number Five

For our New Year’s party, I added some party hats, horns, masks, and leis. Make it easy but make it fun. I, also, have a few party poppers to use.

To make a quick table for these party favors, I put a large tray on a stool. Then I covered both with a small square tablecloth.

Ending Notes on New Year’s Party Tips

Tonight, I start on the last-minute touches. Yesterday I made a cheesecake and orange cranberry bread for dessert. They will be sliced before going to the table.

Also, I need to make my deviled eggs, fruit and cheese dish, and cut up veggies.

Since I have a good headstart on my party, things should go smoothly.

Tip Number Six – Leave enough time to get dressed up and to put on some makeup. My only issue is I hope my New Year’s Rhinestone Tiara arrives in time.

Happy New Years – 2026!
