The days are definitely cooler and the stores are carrying a larger selection of apples including Lucy Rose Apples. The apple harvest is in, so the stores also carry apple cider, apple juice, apple butter and apple sauce.
Lucy Rose Apples Facts
In doing some fall grocery shopping, I saw a large bin of Lucy Rose Apples. These apples apparently have natural red-flesh with a hint of a berry taste.
I bought a couple of apples to try them out. The apples are priced at $2.99 a pound.
This apple is a cross between a Honeycrisp and Airle Red apple. The inside of this apple is mostly pinkish-red and the peel is a red and green color.
My apple tasted crisp, tart, and sweet all at the same time. It is advertised as having a slight taste of berry to it. However, I thought it had a hint of a pear taste to it.
My internet research indicates that red-fleshed apples have been around since the 1940’s. This apple was bred for both taste and looks.
Lucy Rose Apples generally sell for more than some regular apples. However, consumers want both variety and great tasting apples. The below photograph shows the inside pink flesh of the Lucy Rose Apple, however, my apple was more pale pink than red.
The only grocery store I’ve found Lucy Rose Apples in is an upscale organic market in Herndon.
I was glad that I was able to try out this tasty apple. It is always nice to have something new in the produce aisle.

Monica,
Thanks for your comment. Please be careful online about who you give money to. If it sounds too good to be true, there is usually something wrong with it. Always, check things out. Take care and have a great day.

William,
Thank you for your comment about loving our blog; that’s so nice of you! As far as being a guest blogger, I rarely have guest bloggers since I like to write all the blogs myself. I also take all my photographs. We do not make any money on this blog and would not be able to pay a guest blogger a fee. I hope this answers your questions. Take care and have a wonderful day.
