As much as I tried to save my old boxwood shrub, the plant was almost completely yellow and dead.
Between a wild bunny family and the chipmunk, the roots were just too compromised to survive.
The old yellow plant was removed and a new Boxwood Winter Gem was recently planted as a replacement.

Winter Gem Boxwood (Buxus Microphylla Japonica) grows about 2 to 3 feet in height and about 1 to 3 feet across. The plant likes full sun or partial shade and is a fast grower. It is considered a rounded or sphere shaped boxwood.
While working around the other mature Winter Gem Boxwoods, I noticed the plants attracted a lot of bees with their tiny inconspicuous blossoms.
So let’s hope the bunnies, chipmunks, squirrels and other wild animals stay away from my new Winter Gem Boxwood plant.

So far, this boxwood plant is doing well and has gotten quite a few new leaves on the stems.
Pete,
I was a little surprised about your comment on our “complex” rug washing blog. I’ll have to take another look at that. Enjoy your happy day.
