Today the Prince William Library System’s held a virtual True Crime Trivia Event. Everyone loves a scary story of a real life event or a horrifying tale of how the good go bad.
Why Sign Up for a True Crime Trivia Event?
There are books and books written on true crime topics some of which become best sellers. It is, therefore, not hard to see why people would sign up for this usual event on true crime trivia. I wonder if the class had any police officers or other true crime followers.
So in this virtual event, the participants answered a series of true crime questions to the best of their knowledge and the scores were kept. According to one of the participants, some of the questions were difficult.
Then moderator went on to explain a little bit about each correct answer. So, the participants learned a little about each true crime topic.
Sample Question
For example, one question was on the “death zone” in Yellowstone National Park. The “death zone” is an area of approximately 50-square miles. The “death zone” area is uninhabited so it is difficult to select a jury for that area. One thinks with no jury comes, no crime convictions. However, that is not how things work. Sounds like a legal technicality, but interesting none the less.
Ending of the Event
After the scores were calculated, a few gift cards were given out as prizes to those with the top scores.
Sorry the participant I was following, did not win anything but he did try to figure things out by deductive reasoning and eliminating the answers that were wrong.
The True Crime Trivia Event is an interesting and imaginative way to spend a evening. I learned a lot about famous crimes, criminal techniques, and other aspects of crime by sitting along side the participant.
I hope the library continues to hold events like this in the future.
