Tips for Using the Right Kitchen Tool

My kitchen silverware drawer was the first storage place for my assortment of kitchen tools.

Since I love to cook, over the years, my collection has grew and grew.

Now it takes two sturdy  kitchen containers to hold all my cooking utensils.

If you, also, have a big stash of kitchen tools and limited storage, then the first thing is to find is a very heavy kitchen tool holder.

If it is too light weight, it is going to tip over and possibly break.  Kitchen tools can hang over the sides of your container so this is important.

I believe I got this white ceramic holder at an outlet store many years ago.

I have actually outgrown the first container and picked up a second one at a thrift store.

This brown container is a little smaller but is still very heavy.

My mother-in-law gave me a small dish-like candle holder which fits perfectly under this brown container.

It makes the two containers match.

So what kitchen tools do I find the most useful?

I like the flat bamboo stirrer, (middle tool on the below photograph).  I use it almost daily to cook stir fry or other foods.

I’ve never owned a bamboo stirrer before but it is long lasting and strong.  I’ve had it a number of years and it still works great.

I also used the metal slotted spoon quite a bit when I serve vegetables.

Not to forget the everyday potato masher which can also mash other things like fruit when needed.

In the below photograph, you will see a metal ice cream server.  If you place the scooper in a pan of warm water, it will warm up and make scooping the ice cream easier.  One beware, is it is not dishwasher safe.  It will turn a dull gray if it accidently goes through a dishwasher cycle.

The happy snowman pancake flipper came from a Williams Sonoma store.  It’s nice to use when I serve extra large pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches I need to flip.

The last item is a large meat tenderizer.  I love the large size.  One side is smooth and the other side has the rough area.  This was also a lucky find at a thrift store.  It makes easy work of tenderizing chicken breasts or other meat.

I also own two turkey basters.  One turkey baster has the bulb top shaped like an orange turkey.

There is also one wooden spoon with a carefully wood burned reindeer on the spoon bowl.  If you look closely on the bottom photograph, you will see it.

I always buy good quality wooden kitchen spoons so they never break and are always ready for use.  Forget about buying wooden spoons for a dollar or two.  They break too easily.

I also hand wash my good wooden spoons, wooden handle whisk, and expensive steak knives.

These two utensil holders keep my kitchen organized, plus things are at my fingertips when cooking.

I love having a helpful happy Kitchen.
