The Gardening Contest

Well, once again, I’m entering the gardening contest which is advertised in our homeowner’s association spring newsletter.

Because I have entered in previous years and never won, I have a chance of winning. The rules state if you were a winner for the last two years, just enjoy the bragging rights for your garden.

Contest Rules

There is only one entry per address and entrants must reside at the address. Then in late spring or early summer, you take your garden photos. You can not submit anything from years ago, it needs to be the current year. This is no problem for me since I’m a blogger and take lots of garden photos.

Then, you submit five of your best garden photos along with a paragraph telling more about your yard such as what flowers are growling, what do you like best, etc.

Judging the Gardening Contest

The judges looks at a variety of things such as, beauty, scale, aesthetic quality, variety of flowers and plants, color, and garden objects such as arbors, fountains, etc. All in all, they are looking for a beautiful garden with balance.

Ending Notes on the Gardening Contest

Today’s blog has similar but not exactly the same photographs I submitted for the contest.

After all, my purple clematis vine looks lovely this year so I was sure to include a photograph of that.

Now, all I can do, is to wait for the announcement of the gardening contest winners. Will I be off to the gardening center with my winning gift certificate or will I be sadly sitting among my flowers? Well let’s hope for the best!

I’ll be sure to inform my Readers of Farmhouse Magic Blog if I win anything.

Until then, take care and Happy Gardening.
