This weekend, I was out shopping at my local garden center. I bought this small-yellow pot of tete a tete miniature daffodils and a crock full of garden snap peas.
I’ve grown a number of tete a tete miniature daffodils over the years. The name for these daffodils, in French, literally means “head to head” or a private conversation.
They are a heirloom variety plant growing about 5 to 6-inches tall. However, the tete a tete pictured on this blog grew to approximately 8 1/2-inches tall. Each stalk will have two to three deep golden yellow colored blooms on it. They are grown from bulbs and bloom in early spring.
Tete a Tete Miniature Daffodils in CachepotI placed the tete a tete miniature daffodils in an old cachepot I had stored in the laundry room.
I have owned this heavy blue and white cachepot for many years. It has held a variety of plants over the years and has even served an an odds and ends holder.
It is different from most cachepots in that it has a hole in the bottom for drainage.
However, it is too fancy to use as a crock for my outdoor plants.
In the photograph on the right, the snap peas are in the white container.
Tete a Tete Miniature Daffodils and Snap PeasIt is too early to plant any snap peas in the garden. In fact, the garden center had some plants that were damaged from the cold weather.
Snap peas need full sunlight and grow to about 28 to 32 inches tall.
In 58 to 60 days the peas will mature.
Top View of Tete a TetesI did a little research on how tete a tete miniature daffodils got their name, but I could not find much on it.
Perhaps when you plant the petite daffodils too closely, their perfect flowers touch and tell each other a few garden secrets?
