Today I looked through my shopping bags from one of my favorite local garden stores to see some of the items I purchased at the Summer Tent Sale. I wait every year for their tent sale as they always have great deals on items I can use. It’s the end of the summer, so right now items in the tent are pretty well picked through. However, I found some neat things I really could use.
I, actually, came home with two large brown bags full of goodies.
Silk Floral Stems
The first item I’m blogging about are three floral stems which look a lot like a Pink Blush Nadina shrub. The colorful leaves look brownish-red with berries. It is funny I would select this floral stem, because Farmhouse Magic Blog is thinking of adding a few live Nadina plants to my front yard landscape.
When I begin fall decorating, I’m thinking of a neutral fall decorating theme. I presently have a garland of cotton balls, a wreath of cotton balls and some large off-white pumpkins. I generally scattered all this about my dinning and living room. However, It’s too early for me to fall decorate, so I’ll have to post photographs later in the year.
So, these new silk floral stems could be worked into the cotton ball garland I run across my dinning room table or placed on top of my fireplace mantle. Oh boy, to that fireplace mantle, as I can never get the right look for that. Right now, I have vintage plates, battery operated white candles, and two old off-white shutters placed there. Not really “high end looking” decorating but more “I’m working on it”.
When I get my fall looks together, I’ll have to blog about it for my Readers.
The second item I purchased are two floral stems with realistic-looking silk orange coneflowers. They are also know as echinacea plants.
I like how realistic these blooms look. They are not “perfect” like things in nature. I want to add them to my living room arrangement since I have some orange accent pillows on the couch.
That way, it will create a second orange accent piece in the room. But first, I’m going to clean up and dust my arrangement before I add any new floral stems to it.
Not Spring, but a Great Deal at the Summer Tent Sale
Then, I noticed some bags of faux speckled eggs in plastic bags. Priced at only one dollar a bag, I picked up four bags. I never have enough speckled “bird eggs” for my spring holiday décor. I noted they were originally priced at $7.99 a bag, so a super deal on those.
Faux Pears and Cotton Ball
I, previously, purchased two brownish faux pears at the summer tent sale. However, the cotton ball is really not a single cotton ball but many placed together. I’ll add both the pears and the cotton decorative ball to my fall decorating scheme. Depending on how things look, I might have to subtract the pears as I’m not sure they say fall.
The two faux pears look quite real. I like that they are also very heavy and will stay in place no matter where you place them.
Ending Notes on Summer Tent Sale
As always, I enjoyed my trip to the garden center and to the Summer Tent Sale. I have a plan for all the items I purchased. If you have not been to the Summer Tent Sale, you better hurry because I don’t think there is much time left before they take it down.
And, by the way, I also picked up a few packages of seeds for that fall garden planting.
I’ll keep my Readers, also, posted on my fall garden.
All items purchased at today’s Summer Tent Sale were from Merrifield Garden Center, so thank you so much for the great deals!
