Springtime

Happy Springtime all Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers! Today, March 19th, 2024, is the Spring Equinox and that means we have daylight and darkness in almost equal lengths.

So now that spring is in the air, what type of things should we do today to celebrate the changing of the seasons? Myself, I watered some of my landscaping plants as they were totally dry. I had to turn on the outdoor faucet, although we are also going to get some very cold temperatures yet.

The below photograph was taken in my yard and shows my clump of pinkish daffodils. And, yes, they are sure pretty when in bloom.

Things to do to Celebrate the First Day of Springtime

I did a little checking online and came up with the following list of great things to do on the first day of spring.

  1. Go on a picnic. Pack a picnic basket and head to the local park for a little outdoor dining. However, in my part the country, you need to also wear a jacket to keep warm.
  2. Take a hike. While at the park, take a hike. If they don’t have any woods, then head for the nearest forest.
  3. Make a Springtime or Summer Salad for dinner tonight. I think I’m going to try this one also. I like to buy those ready made salads and I’ll toss in some cut up strawberries and pumelo splices. That sounds refreshing and spring like, right?
  4. Spring Cleaning. When I was a newly wed, I always did Spring Cleaning wiping down the walls, cleaning windows and such. But, oh well, now, right?
  5. Volunteer at Your Favorite Place – It could be working in a local garden or park, but get out and and help out.
  6. Visit Your Childhood Home – Not sure why this is part of Springtime activity but it brings back memories. I actually checked out my old address from many years ago and came up with the following. That two bedroom, one bath place on almost four acres of land is not on the market, however, it is worth lots of money!!!! Yes, I am using a lot of examination points on this one. It’s nice to think about visiting the old homestead but that’s not really a likely thing to do for today.
