Looks like, at least for the next couple of days, snowy weather.
Yesterday we stopped in a quick mart for coffee and noticed the presence of two snow plows in the parking lot. Looks like they are ready for action. The bed of the one truck was filled with salt or sand. However, at this time, the snow storm still has not arrived.
Woke Up to Snowy Weather
When I went to bed, it only started to snow. During the night, the snow quietly blanketed the outside. In fact, it is so quiet in my neighborhood, it is almost a little eerie. But, when I woke at 6 a.m., I looked out the window at all the white puffy snow on the ground.
Of course, the cars are covered with snow and will also need to be cleared of snow. We placed the one small car behind my car in the driveway so when the snow plow comes to my street, the little car will not be blocked in with snow. Nothing is worse than to dig and push a car out of the snow after the snow plow comes. It takes a long time and too much effort for Farmhouse Magic Blog.
Tips for Snowy Day
Now to give my Readers a few tips for snowy days.
- Get your snow shovel out of the tool shed before the storm. This is because you don’t want to wade up to the shed and try to open the door. We keep our snow shovels in the basement for easy use.
- Lay a dry towel in front of the front and back doors so snow and water is not tracked throughout the house.
- Salt the driveway before the snow begins. We did this yesterday, so we’ll see if it easier to remove the snow. I didn’t want salt on my front step because of all the (expensive) plants I have there.
- Keep the curtains or drapes closed, this helps to keep in the heat. I only have a few widows with the curtains open.
- Always, keep a snow scraper in your car. Yes, I was unable to find my snow scraper but I was able to find an extra one in the house. OK, I think I need to get that “tent thing” out of my backseat so I can see what I have back there.
- Clear the snow off your air handler outside.
Closing Notes on Snowy Weather
In conclusion, I’m keeping warm and staying off the roads. The weather predicts we will get snow all day long, so we’ll see how many inches pile up out there.
Enjoy your Snowy Weather knowing we will want a little relief from the heat come this summer.
It’s a great day to build a Snowman!
