Snowy Weather

Snowy Drone Day

Today the weather took a snowy turn, so we had a snowy drone day.

A huge winter storm came into town and the gentle white snow began to fall at about 4 a.m.

The roads near my house are quiet since there is no traffic. The snowplow has not been by to scrape and salt the roadway, therefore, the traffic is pretty much at a standstill. The Federal Government, also, closed its offices for this first snowfall of the new year.

The tops of the azaleas are jutting through the snow.

At noon there were approximately 5-inches of heavy, wet snow on the ground and the wind was picking up.

Unfortunately, according to the local news, there are over 100,000 power outage cases reported. It will take time to fix all the power outages and to get all the roads passable again.

As I write this blog, I’m washing all the dirty clothing in case we lose our power for awhile.

We have underground power lines in this neighborhood, so we don’t often lose power but I am ready just in case

Snowy Drone Day Flight

During a break in the snowfall, there was time for one quick drone flight to check out the snowy neighborhood.

The trees in my yard are heavy with snow and one large pine branch broke off.

Ending Notes on Snowy Drone Day

The local news reports it is going to get cold tonight, perhaps as cold as 18 degrees.

Looks like Mother Winter missed having a white Christmas by about a week.

Stay Warm Everyone and have some Hot Cocoa or Coffee.
