Cleaning up after the second snow storm of the season is underway at my house so we are sawing branches. A few large pine trees lost some branches. However, some of the branches were the size of small pine trees.
It’s a crisp winter’s day but being outside is enjoyable and the back yard gets cleaned up.
Sawing Tree Branches
I love the crisp piney smell from the sawn branches plus the exercise is great after being in the house during the storm.
The pine boughs are cut into manageable pieces to go into the trash receptacle.

Axe Handles
Do you remember years ago when all the axe handles were made out of wood? The axe we used today has a yellow handle, I believe, is made from fiberglass.
One time, I remember my mother breaking her glasses when an axe head came loose from a wooden handle and hit her in the face. She was very lucky that day that the only thing she broke was her glasses. The sharp end of the axe was facing the other way. This is one reason to always wear safety glasses and gloves when cutting wood.
However, my mom rarely used an axe. Instead of an axe, she ran her blue chainsaw to cut logs.
I also like the fact this axe handle is yellow which makes it easy to see in a wooden area.
Today our wood chopper felt the grip is better on a fiberglass axe handle.
The below photograph shows the tracks in the fresh snow from the pine branches being pulled over it.
I like the photographic composition of the black and white lines.
Hand Saw and Lopper
A curved hand saw and large orchard lopper also came in handy in completing the job.
Having the right size lopper reduces effort and fatigue. The loppers below are heavy-duty.
The photograph on the left shows the hand saw and loppers on the ground.

Ending Notes on Sawing Branches
I was checking out one of the trees in the yard and noticed the new buds starting to form. Looks like it won’t be long until spring arrives.
Nature works its magic.
