OK, on today’s trip I counted Five Pianos in ReStore located in Chantilly. That includes this Vose & Sons grand piano plus uprights of various other makes. I’m the first to tell you that FMB knows nothing about pianos, musical instruments or music in general.
However, I was able to find a brief history of the Vose company online as below noted.
All the pianos are located at the front of the store for easy viewing. I heard a customer playing a song on one piano. This person obviously had piano lessons.
Brief History of Vose & Sons
Vose & Son were known for producing a well-made piano in New England from 1851 to 1982. The company was established by James Whiting Vose. In 1889, he added his three sons to the business. They made pianos plus player pianos. During the Great Depression, Aeolian American Corporation took over the business and continued to use the Vose name until 1982.
There is a piano stool near this piano.
But I afraid, I’m getting a little head of things. I initially stopped in the Chantilly ReStore looking for a stool or chair for my desk. Yes, I’ve finally cleaned off my desk top, reinforced the drawer and added a bulleting board, above desk. However, that’s another blog.
So what other things were for sale today at this ReStore location?
Tables, not all Pianos in ReStore
Also, up front is this long dining room table set with a few place settings. It looks like it comes with long benches to sit on, but not sure if they are included in the table’s price or not.
I found this round breakfast nook table to be of interest.
This table looks like it doesn’t comes with any chairs.
I find the next table to be interesting since it is on rollers. I think the wood top looks like they are going for a distressed look.
Summertime BBQ’s
There is a row of BBQs in the store today. Some of BBQ grills can be very expensive when new. Summertime, however, is perfect timing for BBQ grilling.

Ending Notes on Pianos in ReStore Blog
I brought along a yard stick to help me measure stools that might fit underneath my desk. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything I could use. However, I did buy a framed flamingo print for $3.
But donated items constantly come in, so I’ll probably check back. I heard one customer tell another one that he found two large gold bird figurines. However, the other shopper told him it looked more like brass. It’s always a fun treasure hunt!
As I noted in previous blogs, the ReStore Northern VA shops are nonprofits charitable organizations. All items on today’s blog are for sale in the ReStore shop in Chantilly, VA.
A Special Thank you to the ReStore shop in Chantilly for allowing me to blog and take photographs in their store.
