Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Visits – Memories

I am probably one of the few people who has visited the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile twice in my life with many years between each visit.  The drivers are called “hotdoggers” and now a days are usually college students.

My first time seeing the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was probably in the 1950’s although I was quite young at the time.  The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was visiting at Camp Pendleton in California.  We were with my mom and she took us over to see it.  I remember that the “hotdogger” gave you a free hot dog to eat although I don’t remember actually seeing the inside of the Wienermobile.

The second time was just recently when it was visiting a local supermarket.  I made a special trip to see it again.  This time I waited in a short line to see the interior.  The inside was very brightly colored with red and yellow decor.

The best part, however, was being given a free Oscar Mayer Wienermobile whistle wrapped in plastic.  Of course, I couldn’t resist opening the whistle and trying it out.  It worked fine.  Thanks for the memories.
