No Ants

No Ants

Yesterday I talked to a person about an ant problem they were having in their home. A while ago, I found a simple online homemade recipe to rid your home of ants. I previously used this recipe, and, for me, it worked out well.

Recently, I tried to use it outside, but we had a lot of rain. So, I’m going to have to try it out again and see what happens. I have a huge ant colony near a gate post. I don’t want ants going into my house which will probably be their next move. Well, I’m going to try to control the spread of this colony by, once again, using this same solution.

Below is the online simple recipe.

Homemade No Ants Recipe

Ingredients

  • White Sugar, 1/2 Cup
  • Borax, 1 1/2 Tablespoons
  • Warm Water, 1 1/2 Cups

Directions

  1. Mix all the above ingredients making sure the sugar and borax has dissolved in the warm water. Get a small lid or plate and place it near location of ants. Pour part of solution into lid. You will probably have extra solution.
  2. It is easier to pour the solution into the lid if you use a lipped measuring cup. Be sure to wash it out thoroughly after this use.

Note: At some point, check back to see if the ants are able to get into the lid or saucer. For it to be effective, the ants need to bring the solution back to their nest. Prior to use, do not spray area with ant poison as you want to draw the ants to that area. Next time I am going to use the plastic top of a nut container.

Also, please read the caution label on the borax box. Keep children and pets away from the solution. Do not get into eyes.

Ending Notes

In conclusion, I am going to try again to use this solution near the large ant nest by my garden gate.

Fortunately, I don’t see rain in the forecast, so might try this no ant solution soon.

I’ll keep my Readers posted on how things turn out with the ants in my garden.
