New Year Storage & Organization Ideas

We decided to take another look around our house to see what we could do to clean-up, de-clutter, or make better.

We recently ordered two large metal black shelves and set them up in the basement.  We then took apart and tossed out two rickety shelves.

To organize things, we placed all the same decorating items together.  For example, we placed all the Christmas boxes together.

In the above photograph, if you use clear bins you can see what decorations are in the box without opening it.

The Halloween decorations are stored in large orange and black bins all lined up together on the same shelves.

This is an office shredder but I usually call it a paper shredder.  Most office shredders will also shred credit cards.

I’m including this office shredder because it plays an important role in keeping old bills, receipts, and bank paperwork out the trash and safely shredded.

Old papers are, also, not needlessly cluttering up the basement.

My outdoor drying rack was continually in my way on the floor, so we mounted it on the wall in the laundry room.

I can, also, hang a few wet pieces on it to dry.

It is still very helpful to me during wash days.

Today I am hanging things which need to be line dried.

Simple Fix

These yard sticks and curtain rods kept on falling on the floor, so we added a simple scrap piece of lumber to hold them back.

The slat was screwed into the wooden studs.

We have also installed this new broom holder.

It keeps the boom off the floor and out of the way.

I hope these organization and storage ideas will get you thinking about what your can do in your own home.
