With nothing much to do on a January Sunday, I decided to do a little new chair shopping at different furniture stores.
It has been awhile since I’ve shopped for anything new for the home, so I was excited about the project.
Bassett Furniture
I am lucky to lucky to live in a location where I can visit a variety of furniture stores on the same day. I want to shop for what I like, has the quality I’m looking for and would best fit my needs.
Sometimes I fall asleep in my present recliner chair, so I need something very comfortable to relax in. Unfortunately, after many years of use, my present recliner is worn looking and has a rip in the seat cushion. It definitely needs replacing.
So, my first stop is a Bassett Furniture store. Abby, one of the design consultants, greeted me and immediately showed me around. Abby is very knowledgeable about the furniture in this store. She even took me up upstairs to check one piece which was on sale.
On the main floor, the first piece I looked at is a brown leather recliner chair. This chair is very nice, however, I prefer a fabric look for my home.
This chair has clean lines and would work well in most decors.
Abby then showed me a second piece, a very classic recliner chair made in off white colored material. This chair is priced at $2,169.
They also have a selection of fabrics you can pick from if you want to custom order a chair or sofa.
This recliner chair has decorative tacks in the arms giving it a bit of a design element.
As I was walking out the door, I noticed this modern looking sectional in an off-white color. This sectional definitely looks comfortable for lounging around, stretching out and watching television.
Using a Design Consultant in New Chair Shopping
I wasn’t sure what a design consultant does, so I checked it out online.
A design consultant offers expert advice on using aesthetics and functionality into an area based on a client’s needs.
- Initially they meet and discuss a client’s order
- Create drawings or models of rooms for client’s approval
- Price individual pieces of furniture to fit the budget
- Adjust order to meet the needs of the client and to increase the room’s appeal
Haverty’s Furniture for Your Home
My next stop is Haverty’s Furniture right across the street. In this store, I was greeted and helped by Iva.
At this furniture store, I noticed not only recliners but, also, this twin sleeper chair. An extra bed is great for hosting visiting relatives or guests you might have. This handy twin sleeper chair comes with a mattress and is priced at $2,999.98.
Ending Comments for New Chair Shopping
So, new chair shopping is fun to do and I got some different ideas of what I want, however, I have not purchased anything.
I noted, a lot of the new chairs use hydraulics to raise and lower the foot rests and chair backs. Also a consideration, is some new chairs need to be placed near an electrical outlet. My old recliner only uses a side up/down lever.
On my next shopping trip, I’ll bring along my paint samples and fabric swatches to match up that new chair.
But for today, I enjoyed the shopping trip; both stores have different merchandise and great sales advice and assistance.
Hopefully, someday soon I’ll buy that new chair – Decisions-Decisions.
