Today’s blog is about mulching a flower bed.
The first thing you will want to do is to pull out all the weeds in the area you wish to mulch.
I always try to get the whole root out. Some weeds like dandelions will grow back if you don’t remove the whole root.
I generally gather all the items I need for the mulching project.
I like to use a plastic trash can lid to hold the weeds I pull out.
I also use a good shredded hardwood mulch.
I start in one section and work my way around and then back. I use the shovel to define the lines and then fill it in with mulch.

I always mulch the entire patio even around the bricks. I don’t want the lawn mower getting too close to the patio and accidentally chip a brick.

This flower bed is going to take some time to do.
At least I’ve got the project started.
Don’t put too much mulch around the plants. Only use a scant inch or two.
When you are finished for the day, be sure to give the mulch and the plants a good drink of water.
The water will also wash off any mulch you got on the the leaves.

Always wear your garden gloves and hat in the sun.
Take care and enjoy the day.
