Today I’m blogging about the first Horse Expo at Frying Pan Farm Park which is a free event. This is, also, FMB’s first Horse Expo.
Horse Expo Opening
Today’s Horse Expo event started with a flag raising ceremony at the park’s flag pole.
Then there was short parade of different breeds of horses. However, not all the horses were in the parade, because some were not used to crowds and noise.
Fun Jump Course for Kids
The Fun Jump Course held in the lower ring was an extremely popular event. The horse jumps were adjusted so children could jump or crawl over them. All morning long, I saw children, jumping, running and playing in the lower ring.
It was fun for children to use that area since the horses are usually in that ring.
Pony Rides
There was also a vendor giving pony rides. A lot of children were in line for the pony rides.
Horse Expo Events
There is a variety of things happening in the indoor arena anything from horse nutrition, horse chiro acupuncture and demonstrations.
I stayed to watch part of a horse gymnastic program. The riders performed different gymnastic moves while on a trotting horse’s back. The riders perfected elegant moves and stretches. They also used a special “saddle” with two handles on it.
The day ends with coffee and refreshment provided by the Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park.
Ending Notes
As I child, I loved going to the yearly rodeos at Camp Pendleton held around Christmas time. They had bronco riding, roping, and silly rodeo clowns. At the end of the event, all the children received a ticket and then picked out a free gift at various booths.
Today’s Horse Expo event brought to mind this memory with horses, happy children, and a fun day.
