Holiday Tree and Craft Fair

Holiday Tree and Craft Fair

This weekend we saw a holiday tree and craft fair. So, let’s talk about our busy weekend. First, we are going to blog about the holiday tree we visited.

Holiday Tree

Although we missed the tree lighting ceremony on Saturday night, we still wanted to see the holiday tree in the downtown historic Herndon square.

The tree was full of lights and they also hung large holiday ornaments from the limbs. The decorations were the size of a small ball. The ornaments were grouped in sets of two with bright red snowflake ornaments. The tree trunk was also wrapped in lights.

We thought everyone did a nice job decorating the tree. There were still a few people about, so we took a short walk on some of the nearby sidewalks enjoying the night and the holiday atmosphere. After that, we headed home for dinner.

Holiday Craft Fair

Then, the next day, we visited the holiday craft fair. What holiday season is complete without a visit to at least one craft fair. Unfortunately, there was a slight rain or mist falling at times during the craft fair. However, the crafter were located under nice tenting with side panels, so even if it was windy, the crafts would stay dry.

There was a variety of crafters. A few booths I remember were selling handmade dog bones, framed photos, dish towels, holiday tree ornaments, wooden plaques, knitted hats and children’s toys.

Also, of note there was no issues finding a parking spot in downtown Fairfax. There, however, was a long line to see Santa who was working from within a building.

The next photograph shows a phone operated clean bathroom with even a sink to wash your hands. Users can rate the contactless bathroom on cleanliness. To open the door, use a QR code or they will send you a number to punch in. If you don’t have a phone, you can get an card from the company who makes the portable toilets.

I actually found the contained portable toilet’s website to be very interesting. It looks like some of them are made with different designs. This one has a ramp so, I believe, it is handicapped accessible.

However, I did not use this bathroom, nor did I see anyone enter it, so I really can’t comment more on it.
