Already, It has been a busy start to the holiday shopping season, so I’m calling today’s blog Holiday Red. One, because red is such a prominent holiday color. And, two, because it’s not the holidays without a visit to the Holiday Open House of my favorite garden center.
Real Red Plants
The below photograph shows a table tower of real red poinsettias interspaced with a couple of yellow-white poinsettias. To keep warm, the poinsettias are displayed in the greenhouse section of the garden store.
These red Amaryllis plants are starting to bloom.
As I walked into the greenhouse section, I immediately smelled the aroma of Paperwhite bulbs in bloom. The garden center also sells unplanted Paperwhite bulbs should you wish to grown your own.
At the front of the store, you will notice this display of an almost life-sized deer figure among an assortment of bright red and green plants. This garden store has a lot of statues and fountains, but this one is a little different. To my eyes, I think it is realistic looking and very detailed.
A wall of fresh green wreaths decorated with red berries and pine cones.
Holiday Red in the Indoor Store
The below photographs shows some smaller red raspberry bulbs. I experimented with my phone camera using the food button feature. Some of the bulbs on this table were made in Poland.
The below photo is interesting because it makes use of a gold picture frame and Joy to the World musical background. The two red bulb holiday trees are elevated on white bases.
There is also a collection of reindeer and angels on display.
Ending Notes on Holiday Red Blog
Farmhouse Magic Blog has too many photographs to include on today’s blog, so tomorrow we are going to do a blog on Holiday Green. Be sure to look for it.
But Holiday Red is a great topic for today’s blog.
All items and plants shown on today’s FMB are available for sale at Merrifield Garden Center.
A Big Thank you to Daniel and Kristin of Merrifield Garden Center for allowing me to blog and take photographs in your store. Also, thank you for the nice cookies and red punch you set up for your Holiday Open House.
